Per Shortlist, Instagram users have found another use for this basic household item and it's incredibly mesmerizing. It's a new trend known as "soap cutting," and, uh, it's pretty self explanatory: just take a bar of soap and cut it up.

This trend isn't as weird as you might think. In fact, it just the latest in a long-running internet trend of... cutting stuff up. This includes candle-carving, make-up-destroying, and bath-bomb-slicing.
