Clipping for breaking in - yes or no?
 

I've just started breaking my 4 year old Connemara. He's very hairy and is sweating on the lunge. He only came in last week and was living out on the side of a mountain unrugged so he's got a pretty good winter coat. Would you clip now? I think he'll really need it by the time I'm getting on. And it's got to be a full clip or nothing as I think this late on if I do a blanket or something the line will be visible for months and I'm wanting to show him. I don't want to bombard him with new scary things, but on the other hand I don't want to clip him too late, or have a freshly clipped horse at backing time...! Thoughts?
