Pakistan frees 147 Indian fishermen
KARACHI: Pakistan freed 147 Indian fishermen from Malir Jail in Karachi Sunday as a goodwill gesture.
According to police sources, the fishermen will be taken to Lahore by train from where they will be handed over to the Indian authorities at the Wagah border today (Monday). They were arrested for fishing illegally within the maritime limits of Pakistan and have completed their prison term. The travel expenses of the fishermen are being borne by the Edhi Foundation. Some 262 Indian fishermen still remain imprisoned at the Malir Jail, officials said. The prisoners are kept in good conditions here. Non-Muslims are granted religious freedom as well, Malir Jail superintendent Hassan Sehto told a private TV channel. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/1AjTV6E-JRE أكثر... |
