Carrying a saddle around...
While posting a reply in http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forum...8#post13701338, I thought about how I will carry my saddle when I start using it regularly. My house is within easy walking distance of the riding centre, and I don't like the idea of leaving my own tack up there, so I have been thinking of how to carry the saddle. One idea I had was to slip a couple of quick release fasteners to an old stirrup-leather, put that over my shoulder like a rifle sling and cli the quick release fasteners to the rings at the pommel.I've seen hand-hold straps for sale for fastening to those rings, and they are supposed to be an aid for mounting. So at a guess, those rings would be solidly fixed to the tree and be strong enough to support the saddle's weight for carrying. What do you think?
