CM orders expediting construction of PKLI
 
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered expediting the pace of work of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute and vowed completing the first phase within the timeframe. The chief minister inspected the under construction project of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) immediately after his return from London without taking any rest. He went to the site early morning and inspected the construction work of first phase. He inspected different sites, issued necessary directions and reviewed the installation of medical equipments as well. He said by the grace of Allah Almighty, collective efforts will bear fruit and on the birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam, the nation especially the people of Punjab will be given the gift in shape of completion of first phase of the PKLI.
The chief minister said PKLI project is the pioneering as well as a unique initiative in the country?s history and added that all resources should be utilised to complete the first phase as soon as possible.
He said he has come directly to the project site from the airport after his return from London to personally review the progress on this project. He directed to continue work on this project round-the-clock as it is a project of unique importance in healthcare sector.
This hospital would be a state-of-the-art treatment facility for kidney and liver patients. He said the provincial minister concerned; secretary and relevant officials should shift their offices to the site for personal supervision of the work and vowed that this project will be completed by working hard, commitment and passion. The deserving patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases will get latest healthcare facilities free of cost.
A meeting was also held at the site of PKLI project with chief minister in the chair to review progress on construction work and other relevant matters of the first phase. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said PKLI will be a state-of-the-art project of the region and every moment is precious for its timely completion in the stipulated timeframe. The efforts of the whole team engaged on this project are praiseworthy, he added.
He said PKLI, which is being constructed with a cost of Rs20 billion, will be an example of its own and it will emerge as a model institution for the ailing humanity. According to another report, chief minister said interests of farmers are foremost to him and no one will be allowed to manipulate farmers? community.
A meeting chaired by the chief minister was held Tuesday to review steps taken by the government regarding crushing season and solution of farmers? problems. Addressing the meeting, the CM said no injustice will be allowed with the farmers. While giving a deadline of today (Wednesday) to three sugar mills failing to start crushing, the chief minister directed the IGP that legal action be initiated against the management of such mills and added that procurement of sugarcane from the farmers as per its actual weight should be ensured at all cost. He said strict action will be initiated on the complaint of under-weight and added that officers concerned will be sacked if complaint of under-weight is received because no loss of farmers will be tolerated at any cost. The chief minister said he will personally supervise the crushing season as well as every step taken in this regard. Provincial ministers Sh Allauddin, Bilal Yasin, Naeem Akhtar Bhaba, Punjab government spokesman Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, chief secretary, ACS (Home), IG Police, secretaries of departments? concerned and top officials attended the meeting.
The chief minister on his return to country said important meetings were held with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other dignitaries during this visit; whereas meeting with Istanbul mayor remained successful. The CM reached Lahore Tuesday morning after visiting Turkey and London.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said Orange Line Metro Train is an honourable means of transport for the masses and the PTI has showed its enmity with the Lahorites by hampering this project. *He expressed these views while talking to media after meeting at engineering university site office. He said lawyers of the PTI went to High Court and Supreme Court and office-bearer of this party Waleed Iqbal filed a petition in the Supreme Court and then withdrew it. On the other hand, the chief minister expressed a deep sense of grief on the demise of mother of Shahnawaz Najmi, producer of Geo News.
