90% school fires caused by short-circuits
 

RIYADH - Electric short-circuits account for 90 percent of fire accidents that take place inside schools and universities, said Nasser Al-Khathlan, planning and development director at the Ministry of Education. He drew attention to the dangers posed by rented school buildings, many of which do **t meet the minimum safety requirements, Al-Khathlan said during the Safety and Security Meeting held on Thursday in Riyadh attended by 1,500 school principals. Currently, there is only one supervisor for every 300 schools in Riyadh.
