DG ISPR says Peshawar varsity attackers were in contact with terrorists in Afghanista

ISLAMABAD: Military Spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that the terrorists who launched the attack at Agriculture Institute of Peshawar Friday were in contact with their abettors in Afghanistan.


At least 11 people including six students were martyred and 30 others injured as three terrorists attacked the varsity early on Friday.

The terrorists were killed in a joint operation carried out by the Pakistan Army and local police.

The area was reverberating with heavy gunfire while a huge explosion was also heard .

According to Reuters the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the attack.


DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said, the TTP claiming the responsibility for the attack is a proof that it was planned by terrorists based in Afghanistan.

The military spokesman added that the militants were in contact with their accomplices based in Afghanistan.

He said that Afghan forces should play their role in eliminating militants based in their country.

The spokesman said that only Afghan forces can address the issues present within its border.*
