KARACHI: Cracks have emerged in the ranks of Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah Pakistan (TLYRA) over the party leadership.


Two top leaders of the religious party that crippled the capital for over 20 days in a TV talk show on Wednesday claimed themselves to be the true leaders.

Khadim Hussain Rizvi, who led the Islamabad dharna alleged Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali of trying to take credit for the agreement with the government under which the law minister resigned.

Despite the fact that Rizvi group wrapped up the sit-in after the deal, Lahore faction carried it on till today and demanding removal of provincial minister Rana Sanullah.

In response, Dr Jalali accused Rizvi of appointing himself party chief and signing the agreement with the PLM-N beyond his mandate. After the deaths of party workers we had decided that the whole cabinet should go, then how could he agree on Zahid Hamid?s resignation only, Jalali asked.

Amid mounting pressure after a botched operation to clear the city from protesters, the government brokered the deal with the TLYRA on Nov 27, with army as guarantor.
