Post the verdict, it turned out to be a dark day for Northern India as Babas followers turned violent and vandalized public property, bringing normal life to a halt. The hooliganism claimed around 30 lives. Now that the punishment against the Baba will be announced on 28th August, reports say he is being given VIP treatment inside the jail. The Dera Sacha Sauda chief, according to police sources, was provided with an air-conditioned room in the prison near Rohtak. From arranging a special helicopter to providing an air-conditioned room and helping in using facilities meant for police officers, the Khattar government (Haryana government led by Manohar Lal Khattar) is extending all help to the lawfully disgraced Dera chief even after his conviction in such a serious crime as rape,a police source informed. Ram Rahims lavish lifestyle is not hidden from anyone. Besides owning sprawling properties and a fleet of cars, the Baba has rubbed shoulders with a number of celebrities as well.
