In an exclusive sneak peek at Tuesdayâ??s episode of TLCâ??s OutDaughtered, the couple, who are parents to 6-year-old daughter Blayke and the only all-female set of quintuplets in the country, receive some good news about baby Hazel â?? but the mood still feels somewhat somber. While Danielle is â??feeling greatâ?* that Hazel wonâ??t require another surgery but simply needs glasses, Adam canâ??t seem to shake some underlying nerves. â??I have a little anxiety about it just because this is a first for us,â?* he admits. â??Weâ??ve never had a kid thatâ??s had glasses before.â?* Danielle, meanwhile, acknowledges that Adamâ??s emotional struggles might have something to do with his mood. â??Last night, Adam dropped this bombshell on me,â?* she explains. â??He told me he was feeling anxious, like heâ??s got a weight on his chest. Itâ??s been going on for a while, and it doesnâ??t just affect Adam. It affects the family, so itâ??s hard.â?* After asking if everything is alright, Danielle suggests that Adam seek outside help to treat his postpartum depression. â??I know I might not be the one you want to talk to because you donâ??t want to put any burden or anything on me,â?* she says. â??But I got to thinking that maybe it doesnâ??t need to be me â?? it just needs to be somebody.â?* â??Right now, itâ??s just hard even articulating whatâ??s going on,â?* admits Adam. â??Iâ??m not even sure I know what to say â?? itâ??s not all the time. Like right now, I feel fine.â?* But Danielle insists that just because heâ??s feeling fine in the moment doesnâ??t mean he shouldnâ??t talk to somebody. â??I just donâ??t want you to get worse,â?* she tells him. â??I feel like youâ??re going to put a wedge in [between] us because something is bothering you.â?* â??I donâ??t want how I feel to get in the way of just enjoying life with my family,â?*says Adam. â??But [the way] I was brought up, you donâ??t really about your emotions and feelings and stuff like that. Because of this, we wanted to make sure that we were as real as possible,â?* he said. â??This meant not only showing the fun and exciting times of being a parent, but also the hard times, the stressful times and the messy times.â?* â??After coming face to face with postpartum depression following the birth of our five daughters, I quickly learned that this is a very real struggle that dads all around the world go through, yet you rarely ever hear it talked about,â?* he continued. â??Iâ??d be doing an extreme disservice to our fans if I hid this from the public and wasnâ??t honest with them.â?* â??I want to make sure that I bring awareness to the realities of postpartum depression and other mental health issues,â?* he added. â??Why? Because I know Iâ??m not alone and I want others to know they arenâ??t either. I want men to feel comfortable opening up about their feelings and expressing the struggles theyâ??re going through.
