New Mosquito Net Thwarts Mosquitoes Resistant to Existing Insecticides
https://www.medgadget.com/wp-content...et-300x222.jpghttps://www.medgadget.com/wp-content.../07/G2-net.jpg BASF, the giant German chemical company, is reporting that the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a recommendation for the firm’s new Interceptor G2 insecticide-treated mosquito net.آ*According to BASF, this is important because this is the “first WHO recommendation for a product based on a new insecticide class in more than 30 years.” The chemistry within the Interceptor G2 is based on chlorfenapyr, an insecticide that has been formulated to stick to nylon and to work even on mosquitoes currently resistant to other insecticides. This is important as in many places mosquitoes have already developed a resistance, and only one class of insecticides is currently recommended to use in long-lasting mosquito nets to prevent resistance. Here’s a short video from BASF explaining a bit more about the new net: Product page: Interceptor G2… Via: BASF… http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Medgadget?d=yIl2AUoC8zA http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Medgadget?d=qj6IDK7rITs http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/Medg...dE:gIN9vFwOqvQ http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Medgadget/~4/cbi-IX4zeZ0 |
