Qatari girls team wins hybrid-electric car challenge
 

Abu Dhabi, Feb 1 (IANS/WAM) Team Gernas 114, an all-girls team from Qatar University, won the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region's first hybrid-electric car challenge held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Sponsored by Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and hosted by the Abu Dhabi-based Petroleum Institute with support from Emirates Foundation for Youth Development the event, held over Thursday and Friday, welcomed 120 students from 11 teams to the track. Their strategy proved to be the winning formula and they were crowned 2014 TAQA GCC Hybrid-Electric Challenge champions. The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
