12 die in Shikarpur tribal clash
SUKKUR: At least 12 people, including a mi**r girl, were killed when a clash between two rival groups turned violent in Shikarpur on Monday.
The incident occurred due to an ongoing dispute early on Monday in the Khanpur town of Shikarpur district. The clashes took place between Badani Jatoi and Saad Khanani Jatoi groups, resulting in at least a dozen casualties and wounding 10 others. The enmity between the two groups supposedly began when two persons belonging to Saad Khanani Jatoi's group were killed in a police shootout and affected clan accused the Badani Jatoi group of sharing information with the police. Reports said that the ongoing firing between both groups created panic and fear; thus, confining people to their houses. According to sources, police tried to enter the area but the armed tribesmen attacked an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) vehicle with a rocket launcher, which forced the police to remain out of the area. The police recovered two dead bodies from the place of firing till the filing of this report. The dead bodies recovered by police were referred to the Khanpur Hospital for postmortem. Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal, while taking **tice of the gory incident, ordered Larkana Deputy Inspector General Police Abdullah Shaikh to furnish a report of the incident and to take immediate action against those involved.
