Why Demi Lovato Has Major Regrets About Her Early Career

Most of us have watched Demi Lovato blossom from her days on Barney & Friends, through her Camp Rock stardom, and most recently, her career as a solo artist, but Demi just explained why she wished she didn't start her career at such a young age. Earlier this week in Cannes, the 24-year-old singer told Susan Daniels, YouTube's vice president of originals, that if she could do it over again, she would **t have started acting at 7 years old.

"I wouldn't start out that young if I could do it over again," she said. "I don't regret anything. It was difficult to transition from a child star to transforming into a mainstream artist. It's something that is very challenging."

If you're trying to imagine Camp Rock without a teenage Demi, we can confidently tell you it wouldn't be the same, but Demi has a strong reason for feeling this way.

"You have to find your identity," she said. "For so long you've been molded into something and **w you're expected to figure out who you are very fast in front of the entire world. It definitely has been difficult, but it's been a learning experience. I am still figuring out who I am every day."

Demi is starring in a new YouTube docu****** titled Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, where cameras followed her every move on a year-long journey to give fans a deeper look at her life.

"If you asked me a year ago, I would have said within the next five years I would be married, starting a family," Demi said. "That all changed, which I touch on in my documentary. I don't k**w what I want the next five years to look like. I'm still figuring that out. I love music, I want to make music and tour. I want to dive back into acting at some point."
