Last night, during BBC News at 10, a technical glitch left seasoned presenter Huw Edwards sitting in silence for four long minutes in the studio.*




It was a strange and mesmerising experience, a sort of drop of tranquillity in a stormy ocean that is TV news.

Newsreader Edwards expressed all his British aplomb by sitting still Zen-like, scanning his papers and doodling as the studio cameras continued to roll.
