India can deal with China, Pakistan at same time: Gen Rawat
NEW DELHI: India is ready for two-and-a-half front war, said army chief General Bipin Rawat, while referring to Pakistan, China and internal security threats, here on Thursday.
In an interview to a news agency, the Indian Army chief said his forces could deal with China and Pakistan at the same time. He believed that the situation in Kashmir would **rmalise soon, alleging that Pakistan was using social media to stoke unrest in the Valley. His remarks came at a time when Kashmir is facing a fresh round of street protests with youngsters clashing with security forces. “Pakistan is spreading disinformation among the youth of Kashmir with doctored videos and messages. This is further supported by some of the people in the Valley, who spread it and glamorise the young boys who have joined terrorist organisations,” Rawat said. Security forces and installations have come under increased attacks in the Valley as well as the Line of Control. The army chief said the force regularly raised the issue of modernisation with the government and it was going well. The Indian military, which needs to scale up capabilities to keep pace with China’s defence modernisation, is in the process of acquiring big ******* and systems, the army chief said. India was the world’s fifth largest military spender in 2016. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/7cmiPmL7f3I أكثر... |
