KOTLI/ISLAMABAD: A father and his son were martyred and several other members of their family injured as Indian border forces opened unprovoked firing at the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Kashmir on Thursday. The Indian border forces targeted the civilian population at Khoi Ratta Sector in Kotli, Azad Kashmir. The Pakistani forces managed to silence the guns by giving a befitting response to the Indian firing. One person was martyred and several others were wounded when the Indian Army shelled different sectors of Azad Kashmir on Thursday. The martyred youth has been identified as Rizwan who was killed by the shelling in Sabzkot whereas three others namely Kamran, Aziz Khan and Wilayat Begum sustained injuries in Samahni Sector of Bhimber district. They were shifted to a government hospital where their treatment is underway. Six districts of Azad Kashmir namely Haveli Kahuta, Poonch, Kotli, Bhimber, Hattian Bala and Neelum Valley are located alongside the Line of Control. Frustrated by its failed bid to suppress the freedom movement of Kashmiris, India targets civilians alongside the border and Pakistani army check posts. Meanwhile, Pakistan summoned India’s deputy high commissioner on Thursday to condemn what it called "unprovoked" firing over the disputed Kashmir frontier that violated a 2003 ceasefire and killed one civilian, the foreign ministry said. India also accused Pakistan of "indiscriminate firing" along the border, which an Indian military official said had killed a woman and wounded a man on Wednesday night. The government in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the closure of all schools within 2 kilometres of the border. According to a statement from Pakistan´s foreign ministry, Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh met with Pakistani officials to discuss the firing on Wednesday and Thursday, which also wounded two others on the Pakistani side of Kashmir. "The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed condemnable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws," the statement read. Indian officials in New Delhi could **t immediately be reached for comment on the Pakistan statement. Sporadic cross-border attacks in past months have frayed the 2003 truce. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/e3Azlkr2f3U أكثر... |
