http://www.medgadget.com/wp-content/...17/04/Mach.jpgHach, a company out of Loveland, Colorado, won the first FDA clearance for an automatic chlorine monitoring system for dialysis. The system performs checks of the water being used to prep dialysate every five minutes, making sure the levels stay low. If they rise too much, a monitor with an audio alarm on the patient floor will **tify of the problem.

The chlorine concentration of every test is recorded for later review and to comply with any regulatory requirements. These can be downloaded via an SD card or using a more permanent Ethernet connection for direct link-up with a clinic’s computer system.

“For decades, Hach has pioneered and advanced chlorine analysis for municipal and industrial water treatment worldwide,” said Kevin Klau, president of Hach, in a press statement. “During the development of the Hach CM130, our scientists and engineers fully immersed themselves in the dialysis ecosystem to understand the needs of patients, administrators, staff and technicians. As a result, the Hach CM130 system delivers trusted results in a user-centric design.”
