The electronic component is inside an electrode ***** that is stuck to the skin. The patient is outfitted with the device at the doctor’s ****** and sent home to live a **rmal routine. The CARDEA SOLO is water resistant, and so can be worn while showering. It weighs less than an ounce (about 25 grams) and is discretely worn under one’s clothing. The device continuously records up to seven days of ECG data and if the patient feels any suspected symptoms related to an arrhythmia, a button can be pressed to make sure this event is reviewed later. After the patient returns*to the doctor’s ******, the electronic component is ******* from the ***** and placed inside a reader that downloads all the recordings for immediate evaluation by a Cardiac Insight software package.*The device can then be disposed of, as it is single use only. The software includes a number of signal processing algorithms that help to quickly track down errant beats and rhythms that may point to specific cardiac conditions.
