Levels serious charges against principal secretary

ISLAMABAD: Federal Inter-Provincial Coordination Minister Riaz Pirzada on Friday resigned, citing reservations on the suspension of Pakistan Sports Board Director General Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera.

The federal government had suspended the DG for three months on Wednesday, though ** charge was mentioned against him in the suspension **tification. “I have been disrespected e**ugh by the prime minister’s principal secretary. I will **t be disrespected more and will **t retract my resignation,” Pirzada said.

In his resignation to the prime minister, he said: “There has been a continued interference in my ministry and affiliated departments by your principal secretary. This suggests either lack of confidence in my abilities or loss of faith and trust. This has **t only distressed me but also clipped my powers.”

During a visit to the Sports Board in Islamabad, he an**unced that he had officially submitted his resignation. He alleged that there was high-level corruption in all parts of the government and added: “I will **t say anything about the prime minister at this moment.”

Later, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and PM’s Special Assistant Asif Kirmani met Pirzada at his residence to discuss his grievances. They told him the prime minister valued his honest personality and assured him that his grievances would be redressed.
