Nintendo revealed the completely unexpected New Nintendo 2DS XL last night, a slick hand-held console that takes the size, shape, and hardware power of the New 3DS XL and puts it in a reduced-cost system with everything in tact but the 3D — and honestly, who needs the 3D?

The New Nintendo 2DS XL is coming July 28 for $150 — $50 cheaper than the New 3DS XL but quite a bit pricier than the original $80 2DS.
