SC orders bringing abducted woman back from Afghanistan
 

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday ordered the authorities concerned to bring an abducted woman back from Afghanistan as the apex court appointed Asma Jehangir as amicus curae in a mater relating to smuggling of women and sought report from the police and the human rights organisations.

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, heard a suo moto case on women smuggling. The chief justice said women smuggling is a dangerous omen, therefore there should be independent opinion. He said that some local and foreign elements in order to defame the country took up such issues. He said if the women were **t being smuggled, why there so much hue and cry.

The chief justice **ted that the sale and purchase of women is very dangerous, adding in order to curb this menace the apex court would do whatever it could. Additional Advocate General Razak A Mirza informed that ** such group existed. He, however, informed the court that an FIR was registered against Mukhtar. He said that a woman Shahdi Gul and her accomplice used to trap families to marrying their daughters with wealthy persons.

They got married Farzana with an Afghan, telling him that she was spinster, but when that Afghan came to k**w that Farzana was already married he took her to Afghanistan. The law ******r told the court that efforts were being made to bring back Farzana from Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the court also issued **tice to a journalist who had published story on women smuggling in Rawalpindi.
