Fidmi Medical’s Feeding Tube System Requires Fewer Changes, Easier on Patients

Fidmi Medical, a company based in Misgav, Israel, has developed a new enteral feeding device that overcomes some of the limitations, downsides, and hassles of existing solutions. Feeding tubes have to be changed every few months to prevent clogging, address dislogdgements, and get ahead of the device breaking up.

It requires changes less frequently, should lead to fewer clogs, and comes apart gently so as **t to damage nearby tissue when it does need to be *******.

The company expects that the FDA will issue regulatory approval for its device later in the year with European clearance expected following that.

• The flexible, rigid-core, internal bumper stays securely in place, prevents dislodgment, and breaks apart for trauma-free removal when needed (radiopaque pieces are naturally expelled from the body).
• The disposable feeding tube can be easily replaced without removing the PEG device. It reduces clogging and extends product life.
• An external, flexible retention bumper protects the stoma, provides ventilation, self-adjusts for an enhanced fit, and holds the disposable feeding tube in place.
