On Friday, the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft will descend to the surface of the comet it has been orbiting since 2014, coming to its final resting place as its mission ends.*

Rosetta left Earth in 2004 with the Philae lander nestled within it. The two spacecraft got to Comet 67P about 10 years later, with Philae touching down on the strange-looking small object in **vember 2014. While Philae's mission didn't last long, Rosetta has spent a scientifically productive life orbiting Comet 67P and gathering data about the boulder-strewn world for years.*
