CompactCath, a New Streamlined Urinary Catheter Aims to Solve Unpleasant Problems

CompactCath, a Silicon Valley startup,*is bringing to market its eponymous self catheterisation urinary catheter to market. The device was designed to address many of the problems of existing catheters, such as difficulty and discomfort during insertion, the package size, and personal privacy.

The tube is wrapped in a coil and where it comes out of the round holder there’s a dispenser that automatically lubricates the catheter as it’s pulled out. A sheath that rides over the tube lets the patient avoid touching the tube to reduce potential for infection, and the design permits everyone to select the length that they personally need. Drainage control is also built in so you go when you want to go.

The device is available in different sizes for men, women, and children and comes in an opaque 2.3″ (6 cm) square box that doesn’t reveal what’s inside.
