On Sunday morning Miami Marlins' dominant pitcher José Fernández, 24, died in a boat crash near Miami Beach.**

The young pitcher originally from Cuba — whose Major League Baseball career began in 2011 as a first-round draft selection for the Marlins — was at the top of his game. Upon reports of his death, fans began remembering some of his most defining moments on the baseball field.

1. Fernández hits his first career home run




Back in 2013, Fernández hit his first career homer as a rookie in a game against the Atlanta Braves, which ended up causing quite the commotion. Players cleared their benches to rush the field.
