India 291/9 against New Zealand in 500th Test
 

KANPUR: India were 291 for nine at stumps on the opening day of the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur on Thursday.

Ravindra Jadeja was on 16 and Umesh Yadav on eight for India, while New Zealand´s Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult have claimed three wickets each.

India won the toss and elected to bat first against New Zealand in their ******-opener in Kanpur on Thursday -- the 500th Test in the hosts´ history.

India start as favourites against New Zealand as they begin their quest to displace arch-rivals Pakistan at the top of the Test rankings.
