Nawaz, Gen. Raheel speak before UNGA address
 

NEW YORK/ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spoke with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday, ahead of the Pakistani premier's United Nations General Assembly address on Wednesday.

Sources disclosed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had a telephonic conversation with army chief General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday. Both General Raheel Sharif and PM Nawaz discussed the regional situation during their conversation.

PM Nawaz is in New York to attend the 71st United Nations General Assembly where he is expected to speak on important regional and global issues but place special emphasis on the deteriorating condition of human rights and violence in occupied Kashmir.

PM Nawaz met with Japanese Prime Minister and other states' representatives after arriving in New York on Saturday. In his meetings with British PM Theresa May and US Secretary of State John Kerry, Nawaz urged the global leaders to use their influence to restrain India from committing human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

On Monday, army chief General Raheel Sharif took **tice of Indian propaganda during a Corp Commander’s conference held at GHQ. Taking **te of a hostile narrative being propagated by India, the COAS had said that Pakistan was fully cognizant and closely watching the latest happenings in the region and their impact on the security of the country.
