'Destiny' jumps into esports with an MLG-hosted match Tuesday

Destiny's first foray into the world of esports is happening Tuesday, and it's a near-complete surprise to everyone.

Major League Gaming is hosting a best-of-five match ahead of the launch of the game's new multiplayer feature that allows players to create private PVP matches. You can watch all of the action unfold here at 1 p.m. ET.

Private matches mean its possible to run Destiny tournaments, opening the game up to the new possibility of developing a professional competitive scene. When the feature was an**unced, developer Bungie and publisher Activision did **t say whether they would be hosting tournaments, but it looks like they are diving right in, probably thanks to MLG being owned by Activision.
