Quaid?s 68th death anniversary observed
 
PM says ** space for extremism in Jinnah’s country;
Rabbani, Ebad, Murad, others visit Mazar, lay wreaths

ISLAMABAD: The 68th death anniversary of the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was observed on Sunday with solemnity and reverence.

The Quaid died on Sept 11, 1948 after suffering from tuberculosis. He was a great lawyer and a politician.Thousands visit his mausoleum on Sept 11 every year to show their respect and love for the Quaid-e-Azam.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said in his message on the death anniversary that there was ** space for extremism in the country envisioned by Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is the firm resolve of the incumbent democratic government that we would leave ** stone unturned to make Pakistan the Quaid’s Pakistan in the real sense the PM said in his message.

The government was striving day and night to end load-shedding, and the completion of CPEC projects would turn around the eco**mic outlook of the whole region, the PM said.Acting president and Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani Sunday visited the Quaid’s mausoleum to pay homage to the father of the nation.

Accompanied by some members of the Sindh cabinet, he laid a wreath at the Quaid’s grave and offered Fateha.Raza Rabbani, in his remarks on the occasion, said the précis of the speeches of the Quaid-e-Azam was the roadmap for the progress and development of Pakistan. The democratic system, he said, could be further strengthened by following the Constitution.

Rabbani condemned the atrocities by the Indian forces on the people in the occupied Kashmir and asked the international community to pressurise India to stop human rights violations.The use of pellet guns by Indian forces had caused serious injuries to many youngsters in held Kashmir, he added.

Sindh Gover**r Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also visited the Quaid’s mausoleum, laid wreaths and offered Fateha.The representatives of the three services laid wreaths at the Mazar on behalf of their respective chiefs. They also offered Fateha.

Deputy Mayor of Karachi Dr Arshad Vohra also laid a wreath at the Mazar on behalf of the citizens of Karachi and offered Fateha.Newspapers published supplements and radio and television channels aired special programmes to shed light on the life and achievements of the Father of the Nation.
