NWA elders demand compensation for reconstruction
PESHAWAR: Tribal elders from **rth Waziristan Agency on Thursday criticised reconstruction of Miranshah Bazaar under the supervision of Pakistan Army and demanded that traders should be compensated and enabled to rebuild the markets and bazaars as per their choice.
Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Malik Jamaldin, Naqeeb Gul, Mohsin Dawar and others said that tribesmen of Miranshah and Mirali had left their houses, shops and markets before the launching of Operation Zarb-e-Azb in **rth Waziristan for the establishment of peace and prosperity in their areas. “However, the shops, markets, stores and petrol pumps located in Miranshah and Mirali bazaars were demolished,” Mohsin Dawar said and added that the items worth millions of rupees either expired or were plundered during the closure and demolition of the markets. They said that before repatriation to their homes, the government had promised to compensate the affected families for their losses. “**w the authorities have started construction of Miranshah and Mirali bazaars as per their own map and many of the real owners would **t get back their shops and markets,” Malik Jamaldin said and added that the real owners should be given compensation amount to enable them to rebuild their shops and other trade centres in the bazaar.
