Man killed in Bannu clash

BANNU: A man was killed and a**ther sustained injuries when rival groups traded fire in Salima Sikandarkhel on Friday, official sources said. They said that rival groups headed by Arif and Adnan traded fire in the limits of the Saddar Police Station. As a result, Adnan was killed on the spot while Arif sustained injuries. The body and the injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu where condition of the injured was stated to be stable. The body was handed over to the family members for burial after carrying out autopsy at the hospital. The police registered the case on the complaint of the deceased’s mother and launched investigation. --Correspondent



Quake rocks Swat, Shangla

ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of 3.8 magnitude on the open-ended Richer scale hit Swat, Shangla and adjoining areas on Friday after**on. The epicenter of the earthquake was near Swat with the depth of 10 kilometer in the Hindukash region of Afghanistan, Met ****** told APP. People come out of their homes reciting Kalma Tayaba and gathered at open places.


Spurious tea, drinks seized

LAHORE: A team of FIA Lahore on Friday raided a shop located inside Mochi Gate and seized fake tea in the form of sachet. According to the FIA officials, the raid was conducted by Sub-Inspector Aftab Gohar Wattoo on the complaint of a tea brand. The FIA team also recovered fake tea and soft drinks from the spot. The FIA officials have registered an FIR against Zulfiqar.



Sessions judge sacked by LHC

LAHORE: The LHC has terminated additional district & sessions judge Hafeezur Rasheed for misconduct, indiscipline and insubordination. A **tification issued by registrar ****** said the decision had been taken after thorough inquiry into the allegations and hearing the defence of the judicial ******r. The LHC found the ******r guilty of the allegations and terminated his services under Section 10 of Punjab Civil Servant Act 1974, it added.



Death toll reaches 10 from Congo virus in Quetta

ISLAMABAD: One more patient died of Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) on Friday in Quetta.About 84 patients have been shifted in Quetta’s Fatima Jinnah General and Chest Hospital and at least 22 of them have been confirmed with the disease whereas three are still under treatment, a news channel reported. One of the affected patients, 55-year-old Rehmatullah, was under treatment but could **t recover and died. The hospital is the only centre in Balochistan to treat Congo virus where a large number of patients arrive **t only from far-flung areas of the province but also from neighbouring country Afghanistan.The hospital administration has warned that eight districts of the province are vulnerable to the disease.



One killed in TDPs camp blaze in Bannu

BANNU: A man was killed in Bannu n Friday when massive fire broke out in a refugees’ camp in which one person was killed and five makeshift homes were destroyed.According to police, fire erupted in a camp of TDPs of **rth Waziristan set up beside Kohat Road. It engulfed five other tents.Fifteen cattle were also devoured by the fire they said, adding that the cause of blaze is being ascertained. The TDPs put out the fire on self-help basis.
