250 booked in Balakot in road blockade case
 

MANSEHRA:The police have booked 250 protesters who had blocked the Kaghan Road to traffic last month in protest against delay in the execution of New Balakot City housing project.The government an**unced to build New Balakot City soon after the 2005 earthquake.The Balakot police had lodged first information report (FIR) against 250 protesters on August 12 and kept it secret from public. The secret is **w open to people of Balakot as they threatened to stage protests if the police did **t quash the FIR.

“We will continue our protest till New Balakot City is developed and plots are allotted to us. Instead of lodging such an FIR, the government should remove hurdles in the way of execution of this mega housing project,” said one of the residents in Balakot on Friday.

The residents said they had staged protest as they were still living in makeshift shelters since the 2005 earthquake.Mohammad Arshad, the Balakot SHO, said the FIR was registered against 250 people.He said **body was arrested as the protestersdispersed peacefully on August 12.
