Jennifer Lawrence was the dark comedic relief Amy Schumer needed when a devastating 2015 shooting at a showing of her movie Trainwreck took the lives of two women.

In a new interview with Lena Dunham for Lenny Letter, Schumer described the heartbreak she felt following the theater shooting, and the ways in which friends and relatives offered support.

She told Dunham:

Schumer and Lawrence have become close friends in recent years, and even completed the first draft of a joint screenplay in January.
