Microsoft's Surface ad uses creepy werecat singer to bash Apple

If biting snark doesn't work, maybe creepy folksiness will. That's the tact taken in Microsoft's latest commercial extolling the virtues of the Surface Pro 4 while slamming Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air.

The entire spot is presided over by a straw hat-wearing singer, who breaks down the Surface's superiority with elaborate Jonathan Coulton-style lyrics. We totally get the parts highlighting the Surface's touchscreen, stylus option and detachable keyboard, but the cat transformation part was less than cute, and maybe a little scary.

Nevertheless, Microsoft's increasing confidence in pitting its mobile devices against Apple's in recent months is yet a**ther sign that the platform wars are alive and well.* Read more...
