Court moved against cancellation of land lease
 

LAHORE: A family member of Afghanistan’s former emperor Ahmad Shah Durrani, also k**wn as Ahmad Shah Abdali, has approached the Lahore High Court against the Punjab government for cancelling lease of a land given to the family by British rulers near Barki area of Lahore.

Shah Pur Durrani, a grandson of Abdali, challenged the act of the provincial government through a writ petition.The petitioner said, after the creation of Pakistan, the federal government ho**ured the lease of the land and decided **t to disturb it.

However, he stated, the provincial government recently occupied 182 acre land near Barki to construct IT University and cancelled the lease of the owners.The petitioner’s family owns 12 acre of the occupied land. Durrani claimed that the British rulers had given the land in question to his predecessors as a reward of services.
