Coalminers’ families compensated

SHANGLA: Compensation cheques were distributed among the heirs of 13 labourers who were killed in a coalmine blast in Orakzai Agency a few months back. Member National Assembly Dr Ibadullah distributed the compensation cheques at a ceremony here. Cheques were also distributed among 11 injured coalminers. The family members of the deceased coalminers and injured labourers and local elders attended the ceremony. Rs0.3 million were given to the family of each deceased coalminer while each injured received Rs100,000.



Seminar held to promote Schwabe medicines

ISLAMABAD: In collaboration with Jang Group, a seminar was held to promote medicines of Germany’s Schwabe Homeopathic Company. In addition to homeopathic doctors, Schwabe company distributers and dealers, head of eco**my at German Embassy also attended the event. After playing of national anthems of Germany and Pakistan, a message of the president of Schwabe Company was presented on video. He said the company has been making medicines for 150 years and has been present in Pakistan for 60 years. Other speakers highlighted the utility of homeopathic medicines. They said homeopathic medicines have cure to diseases like dengue fever and Congo virus.



Man held for firing at police in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A man was arrested on the charges of firing at the patrolling car of the police in the limits of the East Cantonment Police Station late Thursday night.An official said the car of the station house ******r of the East Cantonment Police Station was attacked by an armed man near Shahi Mehmankhana. However, the cops remained unhurt in the attack. Reports said the man was arrested and taken to a secret place for interrogation.



Two killed in Lower Dir over land dispute

TIMERGARA: Two persons were killed at Dabeera village in Rabat in Lower Dir over a land dispute on Friday, official sources said. The sources said one Mabood and Nawab exchanged harsh words over the land and traded fire. “Both Mabood and Nawab died on the spot. Investigation has been launched into the incident,” an official in the Khal Police Station said.



Two facilitators of militants arrested

PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department on Friday arrested two alleged facilitators of militants for providing unregistered SIM cards to terrorists.An official of the CTD said the two facilitators, whose names couldn’t be k**wn, were apprehended in Mardan. Several people have been arrested in recent months for selling SIM cards to militants without verification. The militants use these SIMs to communicate during attacks, sources said.



FC man, attacker killed in Quetta ambush

QUETTA: A Frontier Corps (FC) man was martyred and three others injured in attackers firing. One attacker was also killed in the retaliatory action of the security personnel here on Friday.Police said unidentified terrorists attacked the FC men on the Saryab Road of the provincial capital, Quetta. An FC man was martyred in the attack and three others left injured. One attacker was also killed in the retaliatory action of the paramilitary force while their others accomplices managed to escape from the scene.Bodies of martyred paramilitary troop and attacker killed in retaliatory firing and injured were shifted to hospital for medico legal formalities.

Five bodies in Nasirabad identified

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Five unidentified bodies, which were kept at the hospital morgue in Nasirabad, have been identified by their heirs and handed over to them in the Chattar area of Nasirabad district on Friday. The police said that five bullet-riddled bodies were stored in the hospital morgue for identification three days ago. A woman reached the hospital and identified the bodies as those of her relatives. The bodies were handed over to the woman. All of them were residents of Hoti village of Chattar Tehsil of Nasirabad district.
