US turns down Ghani?s blame on Pakistan
Kabul varsity attack
WASHINGTON: The US State Department on Thursday turned down the allegation of the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani blaming the attack on the American University in Kabul on Pakistan, and urged the two governments to work together. “We encourage the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan to work together,” the department’s Director of Press, Elizabeth Trudeau, said adding, “**t only in the wake of this attack and to ensure that such attacks don’t happen again, but to increase their cooperation countering violent extremism writ large.” Answering a question, she maintained that the US had been constantly in talks with the Pakistani government “on the need to deny safe havens to extremists.” Trudeau said that the highest level of the government had been pressed to follow up on “their expressed commitment, their stated commitment, **t to discriminate among terror groups regardless of their agenda or affiliation.” She also mentioned that Pakistan’s Army chief committed that there would **t be any discrimination. “This attack against the best and brightest of Afghanistan is a sign that we can all do more,” she added. The attack on the American University in Kabul killed 12 people. The Afghan President Ghani accused that the attack was organised and orchestrated from Pakistan. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/YEor/~4/x1VllNbJslk أكثر... |
