Wolf Gottschalk, 83, and his wife Anita, 81 have been married since 1954. Their granddaughter, Ashley Bartyik, posted a photo of the two on Facebook, and their heartbreaking story of love and separation has gone viral.*

Bartyik snapped a picture the pair comforting each other at a transitional facility for those trying to get into a nursing home. She explains that they have been "separated for 8 months due to backlogs and delays by our health care system, whom have the power to have my grandpa moved to the same care facility as my grandmother."
