LONDON — The gender pay gap is "the same" as it was 20 years ago among the mid- and high-educated, according to new research published Tuesday by the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS).

The research shows that the average difference in hourly wages between men and women has fallen gradually over the past two decades — from 28 percent in 1993 to 23 percent in 2003 and to 18 percent in 2016.*

However, among mid- and high-educated people, the gender pay gap remains "the same" as it was 20 years ago.

"Only among the lowest-educated individuals has the gender wage gap continued to shrink over the past two decades," reads the report. Read more...
