All that work work work work work paid off: Rihanna will receive the MTV Video Music Awards' Video Vanguard award at this year's ceremony.

The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, basically the VMA's version of a lifetime achievement award, is the biggest ho**r of the night.

Previous recipients include Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Kanye West.
