First Team USA trans athlete breaks barriers in new Nike ad

Society still has a long way to go when it comes to embracing transgender identity — but triathlete Chris Mosier is helping to clear a path for trans people in sports as the first openly trans athlete to earn a spot on a U.S. National Team.

In a new Nike ad titled "Unlimited Courage," which first aired Monday night on NBC during the 2016 Olympics, Mosier is ho**red for his perseverance and ultimate triumph in sports. It's the company's first ad featuring a trans athlete.

The ad seeks to celebrate "the stories of elite and everyday athletes who are relentless in their determination and passion to achieve a goal and inspire others," Nike representatives told Mashable via email. Read more...
