Maulana Sheerani says nation should **t be told lies; questions concept of good and bad Taliban; who owns armed groups; whether establishment works for country or vice versa; Naveed Qamar says factories of indoctrination of in**cent minds should be destroyed; Shireen Mazari says NAP should be fully implemented



ISLAMABAD: Parliamentarians from both the sides of the aisle in the National Assembly, while debating the Quetta massacre, said if political people will make **n-political decisions, the situation would take such turns.

The National Assembly suspended the business of the day and initiated a debate on the Quetta blast and raised the voice for unity to foil the attempts of terrorists.Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani said on Monday that the nation should **t be told lies and it should be revealed who owns the armed groups.

Addressing the National Assembly session, Maulana Sheerani said we are acting like mercenaries for foreign powers to get funds.

Maulana Sheerani also questioned the theory of good Taliban and bad Taliban and said that if we create mercenaries to kill our own brothers, then problems will also rise. He said the fourth world war is being fought and the aim of this war was to defame the Muslims. “In the maps of foreign powers, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were shown as **n-natural countries,” he added.

The Maulana said after 9/11, foreign powers declared that **w there will be a war of civilisations.“Our people are involved in target killings,’’ he said and questioned if some groups did **t have the backing of our establishment. “Whether the establishment is working for the country or the country exists for the establishment,” he questioned.

He said under the concept of global village, the mercenaries were hired to kill their own brothers. “The British ruled the Sub-Continent and they are still ruling us,” he added. Maulana Sheerani was of the opinion that unless correct decisions on the issues of national security were **t made, the situation would **t improve.

The Maulana said foreign powers wanted to impose war only for their interests and if any country tries to resolve this issue by its own, it is considered their enemy. He said funds are a tool to promote the foreign powers’ agenda . “Are we promoting foreign powers’Our enemy is in our own home, **t outside,” he said.

The CII chairman said people were killed in **rth Waziristan and their houses were demolished. Earlier, initiating the debate, parliamentary leader of the PPP in the National Assembly Syed Naveed Qamar said we should single-mindedly go after terrorists, irrespective of their nationality, religion and ethnicity. He said terrorists deserve ** leniency as they are killing in**cent people. He said the opposition will fully support the government in fighting terrorism. He said efforts should be focused to eliminate the scourge of terrorism.

Naveed Qamar said factories of indoctrination of in**cent minds should be destroyed to make Pakistan safe and peaceful.

Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch expressed grief and sorrow over the incident saying that the entire nation should join forces to eliminate terrorism from the country. He said every individual should be ready to reject the ideology of terrorism and extremism.

The minister urged religious scholars and political forces to get united to reject extremist mindset. He said though operation Zarb-e-Azb has broken the backbone of terrorists still much needs to be done.

Dr Shireen Mazari raised the question on **n-implementation of NAP and said it should be fully implemented to curb terrorism. She said the government has completely failed to maintain law and order situation in the country and even questions were raised on the performance of the intelligence agencies.

Shireen Mazari said people are losing their trust on the state and it is **w up to the government to prove that it is firm against terrorism. She said intelligence and security should be improved.

Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said cordial relations with neighbouring countries are pre-requisite to counter terrorism. He said better relations with Afghanistan, India and Iran are vital to maintain peace in the region. He said if **n-political people will take political decisions then the situation could **t be improved.

Sahibzada Tariqullah said solid steps should be taken to make the people of Pakistan secure. He said India is behind terrorism in Pakistan which should be highlighted at all international fora, including the United Nations and human rights organisations. He also questioned the country’s foreign and security policies.

Ayaz Soomro said extremism and terrorism can only be eliminated through unity among the nation. Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha said Quetta incident has rub salt in old wounds inflicted in the Army Public School tragedy in Peshawar. He said whenever Pakistan is put on path of growth and development such incidents happened to disturb the country’s eco**my.

Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said terrorism has adversely affected the fabric of Pakistani society which needs concerted efforts. He called for revisiting the National Action Plan to eliminate extremism and terrorism. He said Pakistan can**t make progress unless the issue of terrorism is addressed.

Shah Jee Gul Afridi said the entire nation has plunged into a deep grief over the incident of Quetta. He said good relations with Afghanistan are vital for peace in Pakistan and the region.
