CDWP approves 100 small dams for Balochistan
 

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Friday approved construction of 100 small dams having a storage capacity of 75,000 acre feet of water at a cost of Rs8.52 billion in Balochistan.

The CDWP also approved the establishment of a women university at a cost of Rs880.60 million in the Bagh district of Azad Kashmir.The meeting presided over by Minister for Planning Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal also accorded approval to improvement of educational facilities in Peshawar University at a cost of Rs820 million, up-gradation of Bio Tech**logy Institute in Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan at the cost of Rs580.80 million, provision of modern facilities at Balochistan University at a cost of Rs1.5 billion and university campuses and sub-campuses in every district of the country under the China Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor (CPEC) framework at a cost of Rs4.30 billion.

The meeting also approved Rs300 million for different projects in Qadirpur (District Ghotki) and District Larkana, besides Karachi bus rapid transit project and provision of facilities at the University of Engineering and Tech**logy, Lahore.

Working papers related to physical planning for water reservoir, communication and education projects were also reviewed during the meeting.The CDWP forwarded the project for construction of 88- kilometre Lahore-Sialkot Motorway to the Executive Committee of the National Eco**mic Council (Ecnec).
