LOS ANGELES — Lionsgate's long-gestating adaptation of Patrick Ness' popular YA book Chaos Walking just got a major shot in the arm with the addition of Star Wars: The Force Awakens heroine Daisy Ridley.

The an**uncement was made Thursday during the studio's quarterly earnings call. Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) is directing Chaos Walking, which boasts a screenplay by Oscar winner Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), though Jamie Linden (Money Monster) wrote the most recent draft.

The post-apocalyptic thriller is set in a dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts — and there are ** women. While the story follows a young boy who flees from his hometown, he eventually crosses paths with a strange girl (Ridley) who joins him on a journey of self-discovery as they're pursued by the men who raised him.
