Policemen beaten by traders
By our correspondent BUREWALA: A police party was allegedly beaten by the traders of Vehari Bazaar on Wednesday.A team of Model Town police headed by ASI Mehr Nadeem raided a mobile shop on suspicion that the shopkeeper was involved in selling narcotics. However, shopkeepers made the police party hostage and allegedly beat them. In the meantime, a**ther police team rushed to the spot and rescued ASI Mehr Nadeem. When the ASI tried to flee, the traders chased him and allegedly beat him again. The traders claimed that they were working at the bazaar since long and they were **t involved in any criminal activity. Criminal killed in ‘encounter’ BAHAWALPUR: An alleged hardened criminal was killed in a reported encounter with police near Uch Sharif on early Wednesday. The criminal identified as Kazim Kakis was reportedly wanted by different police stations of Ahmadpur East police circle.
