Seminar on senior citizens? problems and solutions held
Islamabad: A seminar titled ‘The Senior Citizens of Pakistan – their Problems and Possible Solutions’ was organised by the National Council of Social Welfare (NCSW), here on Wednesday, says a press release.
The event was organised on the directives of Minister of State, Capital Administration & Development Division Dr. Tariq Fazal Ch, chaired by NCSW Chairman Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik. Re**wned retired federal secretaries Mrs. Perveen Qadir Agha, Muzaffar Mehmood Qureshi and Ainuddin Qureshi were the chief guests. The meeting was also attended by senior citizens.In his address, Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik said that the government was endeavouring to protect and realise the rights of senior citizens besides other segments of the society. While extending full cooperation to all the relevant stakeholders in accomplishment of **ble task, the chairman highlighted the recently steps taken by the NCSW for the welfare of senior citizens. The task included setting up of a Pension Cell, a Facilitation Desk and a dedicated helpline i.e. 051-9107668. He urged the senior citizens to visit the recently established Library/Reading Room in NCSW, which is connected with free WiFi facility. The NCSW chairman also mentioned that the council believed in providing facilities to senior citizens at their doorsteps under a community out-reach programme which will primarily focus on the health needs of senior citizens in rural areas and an**unced to organise a medical camp in Islamabad very soon.
