LONDON — A former Premier League football player has suffered a broken leg during a Chinese Super League match on Sunday.

Demba Ba, who plays for Shanghai Shenhua, was injured during a challenge with Sun Xian of Shanghai SIPG.

The video below, which shows the incident, is very graphic.



Ba is 31 years old. He was taken off the pitch on a stretcher following the injury.

Shanghai Shenhua's coach, Gregorio Manza**, was quoted as saying it could end Ba's professional career.
