A week after ELLE released the cover for the magazine's August 2016 cover, editor-at-large Melissa Harris-Perry penned a letter asking readers for their thoughts.*

"What do you see when you look at our August cover?" she wrote.*

At first glance, almost everyone will see the same thing: a cover featuring FKA Twigs. But if you look closely, near the singer's head, there is a smaller headline that reads, "Becky Who? It's Going to Be You With the Good Hair?"

"Face. Palm," Perry wrote, before explaining why the headline was an issue of race and privilege.*
