23 students to attend Beijing summer camp
Islamabad: A group of 23 students, including males and females from different schools of twin cites, left here on Wednesday to participate in international students’ summer camp in Beijing, to be held there from July 14 to 24.
The visit was jointly organised by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, Beijing Education Bureau and Beijing International Education Exchange Centre. The students were sent off by the wife of Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Madam Bao Jiqing. President of Pakistan Foreign ****** Women Association Najia Aizaz Ahmed, besides teachers and parents of the students were also present on the occasion. Addressing the send-off ceremony held at the Embassy, Madam Bao expressed her utmost pleasure and joy on the participation of Pakistani children in the camp and said “A major part of her tenure here is to help Pakistani people, especially middle school teachers and students to explore what China is like.” The Day before yesterday, 40 Pakistani middle school teachers were sent to Beijing on a training program. Participation in the summer camp, she said will be an opportunity for the Pakistani children to broaden their horizon about China that is of great natural variety with beauty from the highest mountains on earth to tropical branches as far as to the South China Sea. China, she added is home of distinct ethnic groups, having wide-range of traditional lifestyles. China, she said experiencing rapid development and refurnishing itself every day, **t only retaining its profound history and traditions, but also leading global in**vations. Madam Bao hoped that the children will enjoy their trip to Beijing that combines historical heritages harmoniously with modern dynamics. Eulogizing the Si**-Pak friendship, Bao Jiqing said many Chinese call Pakistani as “Pak Iron”, meaning that the friendship is as strong as steel. This deep and firm friendship stems from the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, the two countries have developed. She hoped through this trip, they would able to catch a glimpse of how deeply this friendship has rooted in the hearts of Chinese people. Referring to a Chairman Mao Zedong’ saying, she said they are future of their country. She hoped that they will shoulder the responsibility of passing the friendship between China and Pakistan from generation to generation. Madam Najia Azaz Ahmed, wife of foreign secretary thanked the Chinese embassy for providing them an opportunity to see the Chinese rich cultural and historical traditions.
